It is not your regular trading card game, you do not take turns to play cards and what not, actually, the only thing to do with the card game is the name of the characters, the monsters and the items. It's more of a Real time strategy type of game, everything happens, sort of at once.
You command a group of 3 monsters to move around the field, capturing enemy buildings to gain money and defeating enemy's for experience points to level up and allow your monsters to get stronger, sometimes even learning new abilities and moves. The 'Marshall', the character that controls 3 monsters, also levels up, giving their team more power. Their are 2 ways to beat your opponent, as most of the time, you are unable to beat your enemy's in a single encounter as monsters are restricted to a number of attacks they can perform.
You only start off with a few monsters at the beginning, but gain more by searching the environment in each level and coming across a monster, sometimes they automatically join you, other times you must beat them to win, and you also gain monsters sometimes when completing a level. Each monster is unique, but you must search for them.
Their are 2 stories to start with, and you can start with any, then, once you complete each story, a secret story is playable. It's a fun game, and I would recommend it to those who like strategy and turn based games.

Class Change In addition to fusing monsters, you can use certain items on specific monsters to force them to change into different forms. Armored Zombie: Zanki becomes this horrific undead soldier when you use Call of the Grave on it. The only real challenge to the game is collecting all the monsters. At least the monsters and their attack animations look really awesome, and the new villains are pretty good too.
